OSHKOSH, WI • Lifest, presented by Appleton-based nonprofit organization, Life Promotions, is proud to announce that Lonestar will be co-headlining with Newsboys on Friday, July 12, 2013, at the Sunnyview Expo Center in Oshkosh, WI.

Lifest chose to take a short detour from the traditional headlining artists to offer an act that would not only support the mission and values of the event, but provide opportunities for attendees to invite those who may not be familiar with Christian music, yet would be eager to see this group which has garnered three platinum records, eight gold records, and has been nominated and won several awards from the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association.

Lonestar, celebrating their 20^th anniversary, got their big break in 1996 with the single “No News,” which reached the top of the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks. Since then, Lonestar has produced eight more chart-topping singles which include the well-known titles of Amazed, What About Now, I’m Already There, My Front Porch Looking In, and Mr. Mom. Since their beginning, they’ve sold more than 10 million albums and achieved 10 #1 country hits.

Lead singer, Richie McDonald, recently returned to the band after a 5 year solo career where he released a Christian album titled I Turn to You, as well as another called Slowdown. Speaking of Lonestar’s reunion, McDonald had this to say, “With the Lonestar 20 year reunion… [we all] got together and have decided we have some unfinished business to take care of. I miss those crazy nights running around onstage making music with my band of brothers.”

The “band of brothers” is a group of professing Christian men who bring their wholesome act to audiences across the nation and the world.  Jimmy Wayne, another country act, will also perform at Lifest on Thursday, July 11^th. His incredible life story is intertwined in his music and faith.

More than ever, Lifest is focused on expanding its audience so more outreach can happen, and these family-friendly mainstream acts present an opportunity for attendees to invite friends who might not otherwise step foot inside a church or Christian event, yet prefer to enjoy entertainment in a family-friendly environment.

Other acts added to the line-up include JJ Heller, The City Harmonic, We As Human and comedian, Jeff Allen. Previously announced artists include TobyMac, Skillet, Third Day, MercyMe, Newsboys, Audio Adrenaline, Family Force 5, The Vespers and Thousand Foot Krutch.

In addition to concerts, speakers and comedians, the event continues to offer camping, dodge ball, volleyball and basketball tournaments, a 5K run, creative art space, merchandise and food vendors, a talent search, artist meet and greets, KidZone, inflatables and much more.

Lifest is continually looking for ways to enhance the ministry experience while reducing costs that continue to rise each year.  It is with this in mind that the Pit Stage and Edge Stage will merge.  The metal genre represented at the Pit Stage will now be featured on the larger and more prominent Edge Stage.

KidZone will move from its previous location near the Groovetown camping area to the permanent structure that formerly housed The Pit Stage. This location is very close to bathroom facilities, food, activities and other conveniences. The road in front of the facility also offers less traffic, increasing the safety of small children in the area. Speed bumps and signage will be installed to further increase safety in the area as well. Entertainers and activities providing ministry at KidZone will remain similar to past years. The elimination of the tent previously rented for KidZone provides significant savings, in combination with the production rental for The Pit.

The realities of the state of many Christian festivals across the nation continues to weigh heavy on our hearts, as is evidenced by another festival, Purple Door in Pennsylvania, calling it quits today after 17 years. This comes on the heels of Ichthus Festival in Kentucky closing its doors after more than 40 years of ministry, and Cornerstone Festival in Illinois shutting down after 29 years.

2013 DATE CHANGE
With the release of the headliner artists for 2013 also comes the announcement of a more focus-driven event, with the dates being changed to run Thursday – Sunday, July 11-14. Gates will open on July 11^th at 8am for campers and noon for general attendees.

With the change, Lifest is dedicated to enhancing the value and experience for Lifest attendees by increasing the number and caliber of headlining artists offered each day.  According to a survey of more than 1,000 attendees, the majority of participants (56%) were not able to attend for the entire 5 days that Lifest ran in past years due to schedule conflicts and varying reasons.  Survey participants also expressed a desire to see a line-up with bigger-named artists.

“I feel like never before we are focusing in on the ministry impact of Lifest and reaching more people,” noted Lifest founder and President, Bob Lenz. “It’s always been about reaching out, but by loading up each night with bigger name artists, we believe more people will want to come and invite their friends.  At the same time, we need to be proactive and willing to change so we can continue to be a leading festival in the country and thrive instead of just survive.”

Changes to the event also allow Lifest to address steadily rising costs. As an example, fuel costs for generators have risen more than $7,500 in the last two years alone. Beginning the event on Thursday will help reduce these and other rising fixed expenses such as transportation, rental fees and various labor & services.  Meanwhile, the artist budget will remain similar to past years.
